Hello readers! I’m back with a new blog post and this time… I’ll be talking about the films I’m looking forward to watching in 2018. Without further ado, let’s dive into the list…!
[The release dates in this post are MALAYSIAN release dates]
BLACK PANTHER (FEBRUARY 14)
Black Panther sets right after the events of Captain America: Civil War, where we’ll see T’Challa (played by Chadwick Boseman) adjusting to being the King of Wakanda, and finds his position challenged by two rivals, Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) and Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis). I’m looking forward to seeing what would happen in this film, that may or may not affect Marvel Cinematic Universe’s next blockbuster of 2018, Avengers: Infinity War. Speaking of which…

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (APRIL 26)
THE. BIGGEST. BLOCKBUSTER. OF. THE. YEARRRR!!! The Avengers – consisting of Captain America (played by Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) – reassemble once again to take down the ultimate supervillain, Thanos (played by Josh Brolin). This time, The Avengers are joined by Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and among others. It’s going to be, dare I say it, MEGA-F**KING-EPIC!!!
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP (JULY 5)
MCU’s final film of 2018 is a continuation of 2015’s Ant-Man. This time, Ant-Man (played by Paul Rudd) is joined by The Wasp (Evangeline Lily), who are working together to take down a mysterious new villain known as Ghost. I’m excited to see both of them going on a mission that might potentially uncover secrets from their past, especially if they’re able to find The Wasp’s long-lost mother, Janet van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer).
DEADPOOL 2 (MAY 31)
Moving on from Disney-MCU to a Marvel-Fox film is the sequel to 2016’s Deadpool. The wisecracking “Merc with a Mouth” is back for another fun, yet violent adventure. In this film, Deadpool (played by Ryan Reynolds) will be joined by Cable (Josh Brolin; also Thanos in the MCU!), a time-travelling cybernetic mutant soldier. The plot is relatively unknown at the moment, but that’s alright because I know it’s going to be funny and brutal as its predecessor.
THE NEW MUTANTS (APRIL 12)
The second Marvel-Fox film of 2018 is The New Mutants, which tells about five young mutants who are being held in a secret facility, trying to escape their past mistakes and save themselves. The film stars up-and-coming young actors like Anya-Taylor Joy (as Magik), Maisie Williams (as Wolfsbane), and Charlie Heaton (as Cannonball). One thing I’m excited about this film is that it’s mainly a horror movie, but with superheroes!
So there you go! Five (superhero) movies I’m looking forward to watching in 2018. Of course, there are a lot more films I’m excited about like The Incredibles 2, Venom, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and Crazy Rich Asians. Here’s to 2018 and the year of great (mainly superhero) films…!
