Previously, I’ve talked about the preparations for my recent trip to Northern Kyushu. In this post, I’ll be sharing with you, what I did, where I went and what I ate, while I was in Japan.
Kumamoto
Throughout my trip, I stayed at my friend’s house, which is about 10 minutes away (by bus) from the city center. Our daily schedule consisted of us going back and forth to the city to shop at Shimotori, Kamitori, and Shinshigai Shopping Arcades. We even went to Hikari no Mori, where we visited You Me Shopping Mall. However, on weekends we stayed home, cooked meals, and make DIY stuff together.
Beppu
Beppu was the highlight of my trip because we both *finally* went to Jigoku Onsen… also known as “The Hells of Beppu”. The jigoku are hot springs for viewing, NOT for bathing. Well, there are spots where you can dip your feet into the hot springs. There is a total of eight jigoku – six in the Kannawa District, and two in the Shibaseki District. We even got to try the hard-boiled eggs that were boiled inside one of the onsen!
Shimonoseki
My friend suggested we go to Shimonoseki, purely because of Karato Fish Market – where she claimed she had the BEST Salmon sushi… ever! I even ate a fried puffer fish, because I completely forgot that it might have been poisonous and would kill me. Alas, I’ve survived and I gotta say… puffer fish is not that bad. But I probably won’t take the risk and consume them again. Nevertheless, it was a fun/scary experience!
Fukuoka
I spent my last two days in Japan at Fukuoka, where we stayed at Hotel MyStays Fukuoka Tenjin Minami. We went to Canal City Hakata, where I managed to shop for souvenirs. We also got the chance to watch a One Piece 3D live show.
Travel Recommends WIFI Review
Throughout my two-week trip, I used a portable wifi from Travel Recommends. It provided me with UNLIMITED 4G WIFI and it helped me a lot. The line is fast. I did not suffer any problem with the coverage. I highly recommend Travel Recommends! The price is also affordable, and watch out for discount promos too.
Back Home
So now I am back in Malaysia, back to my humble adobe, back to my job, back to… reality. I gotta say this trip has been an absolute BLAST to me, and I am very thankful that I got to experience Japan again. I’ll definitely be back there again, someday. Hopefully.
